Dachshund has a long history and seems to have been active as a badger hunting dog in Germany in the 16th century. Since the 19th century, smaller miniature dachshunds have been created to hunt weasels and rabbits. Most of today’s miniature dachshunds are long coats. However, it was originally a smooth coat, and crossbreeding from smooth to other breeds produced long coats and wired coats of dachshunds. It also said that dog may be an ancestor of the dachshund because the mural painting of ancient Egypt depicts a dog with long and short leg.
