Introduction about universities in Japan

 This site shows you some famous universities. If you read this blog, you can know Japanese university well. To begin with, I would like to introduce national universities.

 The University of Tokyo

This university is known as the best elite university in Japan. The university was established in 1877 as the first imperial university in Japan. It is located in Bunkyo, Tokyo. The university has 10 faculties and about 30,000 students. There are a lot of exchange students from foreign country. The number of the students is 2,100.

The university has five campuses, which is in Hongo, Komaba, Kashiwa, Shirokane and Nakano. Moreover, this university produced many prominent people, includeing 17 prime ministers and 16 Nobel prized laureates.

 Kyoto University

This university is a national university in Kyoto. It is the second oldest university in Japan. The university is also known as one of elite universities such as the university of Tokyo. It is established in 1897 as the imperial university. There are three campuses in Yoshida, Kyoto ,in Katsura, Kyoto and In Gokasho, Uji. The number of students is about 22,000. In particular, this university is famed for producing many outstanding researchers 18 Nobel prize laureates, for example, Shinya Yamanaka, who was awarded for Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for the discover that mature cells can be converted to stem cells.
