There are so many Hot Springs in Tokyo, Japan but unfortunately there are Onsens they don’t allow people who have tatoos…

I’ll introduce you five nice Hot Springs that people who have tatoos can use and enjoy Onsen in Tokyo!!!!!

Difference between Onsen and Sento

Onsen: Gus or hot water gushed from nature. (Natural)

Sento: Public bath. (Artificial)

1. Inariyu

This sento used for shooting a Japanese famous movie named “THERMAE ROMAE”.

This is build in 1930. You can feel the old-fashioned atmosphere.

It boasts fairly hot water. There is a lukewarm bath, too.

You can get in a kusuriyu(medicated bath) on Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays.

2. Jakotsuyu

 

This onsen continues from the Edo period. It is located in Asakusa. It’s easy to go when you come to Asakusa for sightseeing.

Characteristic of hot water here is that you can stay warm after the bath because the hot water is a kind of hot water called Kuroyu.

Kuroyu is black water, and it has such characteristics.

3. Hisamatsuyu

This sento has a history since 1965 but it was great renovated in 2014. You can feel a sense of cleanliness here.

There is an outdoor bath and it’s natural onsen. It is the characteristic here that you can see the projection mapping. Also there is a relaxation salon here.

4.  Sakaeyu

This sento are using natural onsen in all the baths. It continues since 1959. it was renovated in 2017. This sento’s area is the hometown of the manga(cartoon) called “Asitano jo”. 

 

There are many kinds of baths here for example denkiburo(electronic baths) and kusuriyu(medicated bath).

5. Pokapokaland Takabannoyu

There many regular customers in this sento. Local people love here. You can go back to the good old days. Neon sign is the sign. This sento is very famous in this area.

This sento has many kinds of baths, and each one has an effect. Also there are a salty sauna. This sauna is very good for your skin.

 

Rules in Onsen and Sento

  • You have to wash your body with a shower or hot water before getting into the bath.
  • Sit down on a stool when you wash your body.

★Also you pour hot water on yourself. This is called “Kake-yu”.

★You can’t add water to adjust the temperature of the bath.

★Be careful not to put your towel in the bath.

★After taking a bath, it is common to drink a cold bottle of coffee milk!↓
